Iran recently introduced its new missile defense system “Zoubin,” with 360° interception. Considered the most advanced tech in the country’s air defense inventory, some are even comparing it to Israel’s defense system, calling it the “Iranian Iron Dome.” The Iran Press lists Zoubin as a “short range and low altitude air defense system.”
So, what can this new tech do? Zoubin not only demonstrates 360-degree defense capabilities, but is also highly mobile as it is installed on a 6×6 chassis made into a trailer. It can detect as many as 100 targets, but can only target eight of them at a time with its verticle launch missiles. Targets must be within 20 kilometers, or just over 12 miles, showing some of its limitations.
The new missile defense system “Zoubin” is designed to protect against a variety of aerial threats, including missiles, artillery shells, drones, helicopters, and low-flying planes. It is meant to give Iran more ability to protect themselves from enemy attacks from Isreal and other players. The country has strategically placed the Zoubin in areas around Tehran.
