A publicist for Jake E. Lee has shared that the former guitarist for Ozzy was shot while walking his dog in Las Vegas this week. In a statement made to KLAS, the publicist assured fans that Lee was expected to recover fully from his injuries, and added that the shooting seemed to be random.
The incident occurred at around 2:30 pm on October 16, about ten miles fro the famous Las Vega Strip. Lee did not lose consciousness, and was awake during his trip to the hospital. The manager for his current band, Tim Heyne of Red Dragon Cartel, informed the AP that, “by the grace of God, no major organs were hit.”
His publicist did not seem interested in revealing much more information. Instead, he stated, “As the incident is under police investigation, no further comments will be forthcoming. Lee and his family appreciate respecting their privacy at this time.”
Sixty-seven year-old Lee has played in quite a few bands, including Badlands, and RATT, and alongside Ozzy Osbourne. His guitar talent can be heard on the album “Bark at the Moon,” released in 1983.
In a Facebook post made on October 27, Lee shared, “Checking. Is this on? Been awhile since I posted here. Let’s see: I deeply appreciate all the concern and well wishes. Makes everything going on a little better.
To clarify, I was shot three times. I was on my way back home from walking my dog Coco (I didn’t name him so don’t!) Don’t want to go into details now, I’m tired, but I feel relatively very lucky. The police found 15 shell casings at the scene which means he emptied his clip on me.
I could only dodge so many so one bullet went through my forearm, one through my foot, and one in the back which broke a rib and damaged a lung. Priority now is to keep draining my lung till it’s done crying. Then we can pull that tube out and concentrate on the more minor injuries. And by the way, Coco’s fine and appreciates your inquiries!”
